I realize this post is a little early, but there is a reason I am posting this now and not in December. One of my favorite Christmas traditions is the "12 Days of Christmas for My Husband".  I had a previous blog post about this a few years ago on my old blog, but unfortunately I never saved it! Ug!

The reason I like to post this a few months in advance is because it takes time to stock up on stuff! I like to gather a few things here and there as I see them so I am all prepared by the time December comes around! Remember, none of this stuff has to be expensive. It's just something fun I like to do for my husband to show him how much I appreciate everything he does for me during the year!

The Dates:

Technically the 12 Days of Christmas are December 25^th to January 5^th. However, many people play this game starting with the 12 days leading up to Christmas. This is how I like to play. I start with the first gift on December 12^th and end on Christmas Eve.   However you choose to play, it is still a lot of fun and your husband/spouse will enjoy it!

Gift Themes:

There are many different variations on what to give for gifts. Here are a few ideas…..

Give gifts that correspond with the song “The 12 Days of Christmas”, such as Day 1 (Partridge in a Pear Tree) – Pear flavored jelly beans, Partridge Family on DVD, Pear scented soap, pear flavored jam, etc. Day 2 (Two Turtle Doves) – Two Turtle candies or two Dove candies, 2 packs of Dove soap, two dove shaped cookies, etc. Day 3 (Three French Hens) – Three French pastries (croissants!), gift card for a French restaurant you both love, etc.

Another option is one gift a day that accumulates into a whole gift, such as Day 1: socks, Day 2: Pants, Day 3: shirt, Day 4 Cologne, Day 5: Underwear, etc. At the end of the 12 days your husband will have a brand new outfit. Maybe even one he can wear for Christmas!

Another option is giving gifts that corresponds to the number day you are on, such as Day 1: One of his favorite movies on DVD, Day 2: Two pieces of his favorite candy, Day 3: Three packs of gum, Day 4: Four pack of lighters, Day 5: Five dollar scratch ticket, Day 6: Six pack of his favorite beer or soda, etc.

As you can see the possibilities are endless and it’s your game and you know your spouse the best, so do whatever you want!

I always like to go with the 3^rd option of giving a gift that corresponds to the number day you are on. This is easiest as you don’t need to follow a theme and you can be more creative with the items you get.  You can even get a little romantic or frisky as you can see by my #1 *wink, wink*.  I usually wrap the gifts in brown paper (from bags I have saved over the past year) and tie with red & white baker's twine with a note that gives a hint to the gift and I try to keep it based on a Christmas song or theme.

Here is my plan for this year. I plan on giving him the below gifts along with a little note to go along with each one. There are plenty of cute free printable for this as well that I have found. I like these two the best:

~Day 2~

Gift  - Two of his favorite nips (Jagar & Fireball)

Note - To help keep Jack Frost from “NIPPING” at your nose!
Other gift ideas: Pair of Socks, Pair of gloves, or slippers

Gift – 3 tubes of Chapstick

Note – For when mama “KISSES" Santa under the mistletoe!

~Day 4~
Gift - 4 pack of lighters
Note - Oh the "FIRE" is so delightful!
Other gift ideas: Two pairs of gloves or mittens, 4 pack of pens/pencils/markers

~Day 5 ~

Gift - $5 scratch ticket

Note - Here’s to us being able to afford “FIVE” golden rings!”
Other gift ideas: $5 bill, $5 gift card to coffee shop

~Day 6~

Gift - Six of his favorite kind of muffins (blueberry with crumb topping)

Note - Leave “CRUMBS” too small for a mouse!
Other gift ideas - 6 pack of his favorite beer or soda

~Day 7~
Gift - Seven notes hidden around the house, in his truck, in his lunch box, etc.
Note - Each of the 7 notes gives a reason why I love him
Other gift ideas: Lucky 7 scratch ticket

~Day 8~

Gift - 4 pack of winter gloves (technically there are 8 gloves! My husband loses his ALL the time!)

Note -Bright copper kettles and warm woolen "MITTENS", these are a few of my favorite things! 
Other gift ideas: Magic 8 Ball, buy him/make him a Pizza (8 slices)

~Day 9~

Gift- Pictures collage in a 9 frame window design, such as below

Note -Suzy Snowflake is tap tap tapping on your "WINDOW PANE" to tell you she's in town

Other gift idea: Sudoku puzzle book

~Day 10~

Gift - A $10 bill

Note - Have a merry little "lunch" on me!
Other gift ideas: $10 gift certificate for restaurant/coffee place, 10 reasons you love him

~Day 11~

Gift - Eleven pieces of candy (Candy Canes, Reeses PB Cups, Dove, Turtles, Lindt trouffles, etc)

Note - Take a look in the five-and-ten, glistening once again with "CANDY CANES" and silver lanes aglow.....

~Day 12~

Gift -12 pack of his favorite beer 

Note - To help you have a very "MERRY" Christmas!!
